Last weekend I planned to plant flowers. The weather didn’t comply.
I did get them planted Monday, though, when the clouds parted and the sun finally appeared.

The Anima Young Singerswill bring their breath, life and soul (the definition of anima) to the DuPage Children’s Museum for a special performance. The museum will be open until 8 p.m. Friday night.

Battle of the Bands
The hosts this battle of the bands at Rotary Hill. The competition’s winner gets to perform at Ribfest, so this is a big deal. Nine local bands with students from area high schools will be rocking out! Grab a chair, a blanket and find a spot on the lawn to kick back and chill.
Save the Ta-Ta’s at BlackFinn
Wear your pink and enjoy a “Ta-ta-tini” at this fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. There will be complimentary appetizers and a portion of the sales will go to the foundation.
One Lucky Elephant at Ogden 6
What happens when an orphaned elephant doesn’t like the circus? Where does she go? This is a special screening of the film One Lucky Elephant before it opens nationwide June 6. The film is also scheduled to be shown on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
Civil War Days at the Naper Settlement
Don’t be surprised if you hear cannon fire this weekend. The Civil War will be taking place all over again at the . Soldiers will be encamped on the grounds and battles will be waged. Find out what life was like during the war between the states. This event also takes place Sunday.
Walk for the Angelman Syndrome Foundation
Children born with Angelman syndromewill require care for the rest of their lives. The syndrome is a neuro-genetic disorder. Walk two miles and help raise funds for the foundation.
SundayFree plane rides from Young Eagles
Oh, to be a child again! If only to get a free ride in a plane. Maybe if I pretend, they won’t realize how old I am? Doubtful. Free flights for children ages 8 through 17 will be available through the Young Eagles event at the Aurora Municipal Airport. The rides are free and no reservations are required.
School of Performing Arts Presents 'Scenes from Chicagoland'
Enjoy an evening of song from some of the most well-known musicals, including The Music Man and Elton John's Aida. Rogers & Hammerstein tunes will also be featured.
