Carol Stream Man Charged In $900K Credit Card, Event Fraud Scheme: Feds
Brandon Getzloff, 42, faces eight federal wire fraud charges in connection with incidents between 2021 and 2024.
CAROL STREAM, IL — A Carol Stream man faces federal charges after he was accused of committing $900,000 worth of credit card and event sales fraud while working as an operations manager for a medical center. Brandon Getzloff, 42, was charged with eight counts of wire fraud, which federal prosecutors say involved using company credit cards to fund personal expenses and selling event tickets that he had not purchased
According to an a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Illinois, the expenses were Getzloff logged the expenses as "legitimate expenditures in the company’s enterprise management system." Getzloff is accused of using the credit cards to buy gift cards he used to pay his own bills.
He is further accused of selling tickets to "luxury golf courses, college basketball and football games, and other events."

Per the indictment, Getzloff "induced victims to pay for the outings by claiming to offer significantly discounted rates that had to be purchased by certain deadlines, sometimes more than a year in advance."
Getzloff is accused of using company credit cards to buy tickets to previous sports outings to help him "attract funding from additional participants." He is accused of failing to buy tickets for his customers and using their funds for personal expenses.

Per the news release, Getzloff received $700,000 in the credit card scheme and $200,000 in the sports outing scheme.
Getzloff is set to appear in court Jan. 28 for a status hearing.
