Paramount Celebrates 80th Anniversary with Huge Season

Theater to bring triple number of performers from last year, including Los Lobos, Cyndi Lauper, Poi Dog Pondering.

It will be Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon at the Paramount Theatre this summer when The Bacon Brothers bring their show to the Aurora venue in late August.

The Paramount Theatre has announced its lineup for the 2011-2012 season and the acts and shows include some well-loved musicals, musicians and comedians as the theater celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.

“Add a full roster of children’s entertainment, and the Paramount will be presenting more than triple the number of performances as last season,” said Paramount Theatre Executive Director Tim Rater in a news release.  “We invite everyone to join the Paramount as we celebrate our 80th anniversary season with one of the most diverse entertainment lineups in all of Chicagoland.”

Musicals scheduled for the season include: My Fair Lady, Hair, A Chorus Line and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.

Some of the musicians and bands lined up to perform include: The Bacon Brothers, Cyndi Lauper and Doctor John, Los Lobos, Poi Dog Pondering and Il Voce.

Comedians Bill Engvall and Frank Caliendo will bring their humor to the theater.

The Paramount is offering discounted subscription packages. Single tickets will go on sale June 13.
