Parents Talk: Chores

When I was in high school I earned about $10 a week for doing chores around the house.

Back then, if I saved my money up for the month I could go shopping and buy myself a new pair of jeans. I had motivation to take out the trash.

I was in grade school when my mom asked me to start doing chores around the house. I was a weird kid and really didn’t mind helping out too much. I liked to iron (back then, not now) and didn’t mind dusting or vacuuming.

Do you expect your children to help out around the house to earn their keep? What kind of chores do they do? And, how old were your kids when you had them start doing chores? How much do you pay them for their work?
