Police Blotter: Broken Flower Pots, Stolen Wallets

WEDNESDAY, June 15

Possession of paraphernalia, cannabis

Police said Skyler Thomas Sabala, 22, of the 1000 block of Selma Lane was arrested at the same location at 8:50 p.m. and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, manifestation and delivery of cannabis 30-500 grams. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Courtney Marie Ahern, 22, of the 1600 block of Fairway Circle, Geneva, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. at 75th Street and Book Road for possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding over the statutory limit and possession of cannabis under 30 grams, according to police. Bond was set at $120.

Driving with suspended, revoked license

Steven Lee Kimmons, 24, of the 600 block of Schillinger Drive was arrested at 8:55 p.m. in the 800 block of North Loomis Street and East Ogden Avenue and charged with not wearing a seat belt, driving on a suspended, revoked license and operating an uninsured vehicle, police said. Bail was set at $2,000.

Driving under influence of alcohol

Jatin Mihir Shah, 25, of the 1200 block of South Elmhurst Road, Mount Prospect, was arrested at 11:46 p.m. in the 1400 block of East Chicago Avenue and charged on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said. His bail was set at $3,000.

Arkadiusz Woznica, 38, of the first block of Dundee Quarter Drive, Palatine, was arrested in 700 block of Inland Circle at 7:50 p.m. on charges of illegal possession and transportation of liquor by a driver, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license, police said. Bail set at $3,000.

Police said Frank Joseph Popolo, 33, of 300 North Charles Ave was arrested at 8:08 p.m. in the 0 block of North Avenue and North Huffman Street. He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving in the wrong lane, disregarding a stop sign and failure to give signal.

Samuel Lopez, 20, of the 900 block of North Loomis Street was arrested at 1:36 a.m. in 800 block of Center Street and East Ogden Avenue and charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, disobeying a traffic control device, operating an uninsured vehicle, consumption of liquor by a minor and driving without a license, according to police.

Trespass, theft to vehicle

A 38-year old man in the 2200 block of Keim Road reported that between 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and 5:32 a.m. Wednesday vehicles in the driveway were entered and items were taken including a GPS, iTouch and a digital camera, police said.

A 28-year-old man in the 700 block of Royal St. George Drive reported that items were stolen out of a locked vehicle between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, police said.  There was no forced entry.

A 53-year-old man in the 2800 block of Breckenridge Lane reported he could not find his wallet and believes it was taken when he left it in his unattended and unlocked vehicle on between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Mailboxes damaged

A 57-year-old man in the 2200 block of Brown Court reported that a mailbox and posts were broken overnight between 10:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, police said. Other mailboxes in the area were similarly damaged.

A 67-year-old man in the 3300 block of Keller Lane reported a solid brass flag was broken off a mailbox between 2 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday, police reported.

A 56-year-old man in the 1000 block of Augustana Drive reported that mailboxes were damaged between Tuesday and Wednesday.

A woman in the 1300 block of Carleton Circle reported she heard noise outside between 1-2:30 a.m. but didn’t think anything of it and found the mailbox damaged, police said.

Property damage

A 55-year-old woman in the 1000 block of Augustana Drive reported that a tree was ripped up and placed on a car and a tiki torch was pulled from the ground between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

A 42-year-old woman in the 2200 block of Wooster Court reported that between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday an arborvitae evergreen was torn out of the ground, a paver brick was removed from a retaining wall and a cedar ladder was ripped off a play set in the back yard, police said.

A 68-year-old woman in the 800 block of Burning Tree Lane reported at 8:26 p.m. she heard a loud noise outside her house and found the bottom panel of her garage door appeared to be kicked in, according to police.

A man in the 1300 block of Carleton Circle reported that three flower pots were removed from his property, emptied on the lawn and driveway, and one pot was broken in the grass, police said.

Theft

A 28-year-old woman in the 100 block of East 11th Avenue reported cash was taken from her wallet while a classroom was unattended between 9:40 am. noon Tuesday, police said.

A woman in the 500 block of Fairway Drive reported Wednesday that on June 3 her wallet was stolen out of her purse at the same location, police said. The wallet had about $60 in cash, checkbook, credit cards and other documents.
