Residents Safely Escape Foxcroft Road House Fire Friday Night

Firefighters responded to a blaze at a home on Foxcroft Road on Friday night.

Everyone living in a home in the first block of Foxcroft Road safely escaped a house fire Friday night, according to fire officials.

Responders said they received the call at 9:19 p.m. and were on the scene at 9:22 p.m. Initially, 24 firefighters and 10 pieces of apparatus were dispatched to the scene, Division Fire Chief Mark Ziemnik said in a news release.

Upon arrival at the scene, responders determined that everyone had safely evacuated the house and then began attacking the fire, which was coming from the garage.

“The main fire was extinguished within about 15 minutes of the Fire Department’s arrival, however units remained on the scene for about 90 minutes to perform salvage operations and open walls to expose any concealed, smoldering fire,” Ziemnik said in the release.

There were no injuries to residents or responders in the fire.

The house was declared uninhabitable until repairs are made. Damage is estimated to be at more than $100,000.

The residents were placed at a local hotel until other arrangements can be made.
