Sept. 11 Remembrance To Be Held At Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial
The ceremony will feature a reading from high school senior Elizabeth McConkie and remarks from Mayor Wehrli and Chiefs Arres and Puknaitis.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A remembrance ceremony will be held at Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial to commemorate those who died during the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. The ceremony, presented by Naperville Responds for Veterans and the City of Naperville, is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sept. 11.
The Naperville Municipal Band will start the night with patriotic music at 5:45 p.m. Local high school senior Elizabeth McConkie will share a reading and remarks will be made by Mayor Scott Wehrli, Fire Chief Mark Puknaitis and Police Chief Jason Arres.
Cmdr. Dan Shanower Memorial is located on the grounds of Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. The memorial was dedicated Sept. 11 2003, to honor the memory of Naperville native Cmdr. Dan Shanower, who died when the Pentagon was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001.
