NEW LENOX, IL — The Village of New Lenox will hold a memorial ceremony at 8 a.m. Sept. 11 in the Village Commons to honor those that lost their lives on 9/11, according to a Facebook post by New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the day four terrorist attacks killed approximately 3,000 people.
Baldermann asked residents to "[W]ear blue or red to honor our fallen police officers and fire fighters that made the ultimate sacrifice that day, and those who continue to risk their lives for us every day. Let's fill the Commons grass with a sea of blue and red to show our support for first responders."
