Man Shot While Walking On Sidewalk In Niles: Police

The 49-year-old was struck in the buttocks and then taken to an area hospital, according to police.

NILES, IL — A 49-year-old man was seriously injured after being shot early Friday while walking on a residential sidewalk. According to Niles police, the man was struck once in the buttocks and taken to an area hospital in the 9200 block of North Maryland Street.

The incident occurred at around 12:17 a.m. A car pulled up and someone inside the dark-colored SUV fired multiple shots toward the victim. A residential building and an unoccupied vehicle were also struck by bullets during the shooting, but no one else was injured.
