Cousin Accused of Conspiring in Bali Murder Released to Home Confinement
Robert Bibbs, cousin of Tommy Schaefer, reportedly advised him on how to kill his girlfriend's mother.
Tommy Schaefer’s cousin, who was arrested and charged with conspiring in the Bali murder of Sheila von Wiese-Mack, was released on home confinement at the order of a U.S. magistrate judge on Friday.
Robert Ryan Justin Bibbs, 24, of Chicago, was released to his mother’s custody, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Prosecutors say Bibbs advised Schaefer and Heather Mack on how to kill Mack’s mother and how to avoid legal consequences of the crime, according to the FBI.

A criminal complaint states Bibbs thought Schaefer would share Mack’s inheritance with him after von Wiese-Mack was killed.
Von Wiese-Mack was found beaten to death and stuffed in a suitcase Aug 12, 2014, in a taxi outside the Bali resort where she, Mack and Schaefer had stayed. Schaefer and Mack were each convicted in April of premeditated murder. Schaefer was sentenced to 18 years in prison, and Mack received a 10-year sentence.

The criminal complaint against Bibbs claims he helped Mack try to poison her mother before Schaefer arrived in Bali, but the attempt was unsuccessful.
Bibbs and Schaefer texted proposed murder plots after Schafer got to Bali, accented with emojis, according to the complaint.
After Mack and Schaefer were arrested Aug. 13, 2014, Bibbs reportedly texted his girlfriend, concerned about being implicated in the murder.
