Student Had BB Gun At Oswego East: Police

Police said the BB gun has been confiscated.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police say they've confiscated a BB gun from an Oswego East student who had it in their possession at the District 308 campus. Police said officers are investigating the incident, but "there were no threats made (and) the BB gun has been confiscated."

Police revealed the incident on Facebook Tuesday morning, saying, "We are advising the public of this at this time in an effort to quell any rumors. There is no threat to the students or staff."

District 308 Director of Communications and Public Relations Theresa Komitas shared with Patch a letter sent to parents just before 10 a.m. Tuesday. In the note, Principal Laura Bankowski said a student and teacher reported that another student had a BB gun in a backpack on campus.
