
KENDALL COUNTY, IL — Incumbents won big in local races, from the Kendall County clerk and county board elections to state representatives from the Oswego area. State Reps. Keith Wheeler, Republican, and Democrat Stephanie Kifowit each won re-election by solid margins.

State Representative, 50th District

- Keith Wheeler (R): 55.6 percent
- James Leslie (D): 44.4 percent
State Representative, 85th District
- Patty Smith (R): 34.0 percent
- Stephanie Kifowit (D): 66 percent
Wheeler, who was elected in 2015, defeated Democrat Leslie, a firefighter/paramedic from Aurora who pledged to stand against "hate-filled rhetoric" and work to bridge the political divide.

Meanwhile, Kifowit, an Aurora resident who has served since 2013, defeated Smith, a single mom of three from Aurora who said she was "running for State Representative because the broken status quo puts special interests and career politicians first."
State Rep. Mark Batinick (R-97th) of Plainfield also won re-election.
