Palatine Man Wins $100K From Lottery Scratch-Off Ticket

Guy Noffke, 50, was shocked by his winnings, but he doesn't plan to do anything crazy with the money just yet.

PALATINE, IL — Even though Guy Noffke didn't win the big money from the $10 Million Cash Bonanza ticket he recently bought, he wasn't disappointed by his purchase. The Illinois Lottery scratch-off ticket ended up earning him $100,000.

"I scratched the ticket slowly and didn’t reveal the prize amounts until the very end," Noffke, 50, said in a statement Tuesday from the Illinois Lottery. "When I saw that I won $100,000, I was shocked!”

Noffke, who has lived in Palatine for more than 20 year, doesn't plan to do anything crazy with his newfound money. He told the lottery that plans to keep it in the bank for now. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest Palatine news. And iPhone users: Check out Patch's new app.)

The ticket was purchased at Extra Value Liquors, 1348 N. Rand Road, and that business will receive $1,000 for the sale. The $10 million Cash Bonanza is a $30 instant ticket that has three top payouts of $10 million, and so far, two of those prizes have been claimed. Noffke earned one of 22 $100,000 awards; only six of those payouts have not been claimed.
