House Blaze Fought By 28 Firefighters: Palatine FD

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but police believe it was accidental.

PALATINE, IL — No one was injured in a Monday night fire that brought out 28 firefighters. Palatine Fire Department investigators are currently investigating the cause of the fire and believe it to be accidental.

Palatine firefighters responded to the 200 block of N. Oak Street at around 6:17 p.m. Monday for a report of a house fire. A resident of the home had noticed smoke coming from the basement, called 911 and then made sure everyone was out of the house, including two dogs.

The initial fire crew found smoke coming from the front of the house, and upgraded it to a structure fire response. The fire was found in the basement, and had extended up through the walls and into the attic. All residents were found safe, and the fire was declared under control by 6:57 p.m.

The 28 firefighters staffed five engines, one ladder truck, one rescue squad, and three ambulances that responded to the scene along with six command officers. The Rolling Meadows Fire Department also provided crews that assisted in extinguishing the fire. During the incident, a Long Grove ambulance stood by at Palatine Fire Station 82 to cover any additional calls. Palatine police assisted at the scene with traffic and crowd control.
