The Plainfield Area Public Library Board of Trustees seeks a candidate to fill a vacancy on the Library Board. The selected candidate will serve until the next regular election in April 2027.
The Library Board is composed of seven trustees, all of whom must be residents of the Library District. On average, the trustee position takes a commitment of a minimum 4-6 hours per month (this includes 1-2 in-person meetings and preparation). Regular meetings of the board are on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm. The Board of Library Trustees of the Library is responsible for the governance of the Library.

- Hire a Library Director who will be responsible for the operation of the library.
- File a Statement of Economic Interest in the primary county they are located in by the due date each year.
- Endorse and serve under the ethics statement developed and approved by the American Library Trustee Association division of the American Library Association.
- Contact the President and Library Director in sufficient time preceding the meeting to have an item placed on the agenda
- Contact the library to indicate that he or she will be absent; and, take onus of material and information provided at missed meetings.
- Attend meetings regularly and be prepared to discuss agenda items.
- Attend library related seminars, workshops, or meetings.
- Attend Library sponsored events and community events on behalf of the Library.
- Serve on at least one standing committee.

Interviews will be conducted on the evening of Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at the Plainfield Township Community Center, located at 15014 S. Des Plaines St., Plainfield, IL.
