Man Killed On I-55 Was Helping Stalled Car: GoFundMe
The 30-year-old was helping repair a vehicle on the side of the interstate when a car hit him, according to the GoFundMe.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Bosimbek Khazratqulov was helping someone repair a car July 5 on the side of Interstate 55 near Plainfield when he was struck and killed by a fast-moving vehicle, according to a GoFundMe campaign.
"Bosimbek was only 30 years old — full of dreams and hopes," reads the campaign set up to help his family. "He was a kind, hardworking, and compassionate person who always brought warmth to those around him and was quick to lend a helping hand whenever he could. His sudden passing has been a devastating loss for his family and friends."
The Aurora resident's family created a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral expenses, transportation and other necessary costs, and financial support for Khazratqulov's relatives.

The fatal crash occurred at about 7:26 p.m. July 5 on northbound I-55 near Route 30. A Nissan Altima didn't yield when approaching the stalled car and hit Khazratkulov, Illinois State Police told Patch on Thursday. The fundraiser organizer said the Nissan was “traveling at high speed.”
The driver, a 21-year-old Shorewood resident, was issued a citation for failure to yield while approaching a disabled vehicle, ISP said.

Khazratkulov was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m. Saturday at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook, Patch reported. As of Thursday, the crash remains under investigation.

The GoFundMe has a goal of $14,000, with almost $3,000 raised as of Thursday, a day after the campaign was created.
