Boy, 6, Fatally Stabbed In Plainfield Home, Woman Injured: Sheriff
Will County deputies questioned a 71-year-old man in connection with the Saturday stabbings on Plainfield Road. No charges have been filed.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A 6-year-old boy died Saturday after he was stabbed more than a dozen times at a home on Plainfield Road, the Will County Sheriff's Office confirmed. A 32-year-old woman also stabbed more than a dozen times remains in critical condition, authorities said.
According to authorities, deputies were called to a home in the 16200 block of Plainfield Road near Lily Cache Road shortly before 11:40 a.m. for a reported stabbing. Authorities said the woman called 911 and told dispatchers her landlord attacked her with a knife.
According to the sheriff's office, the woman also told dispatchers she ran into a bathroom to call the police and continued to fight off her attacker as she dialed 911.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found a 71-year-old man identified by authorities as the suspect outside the house near the property's driveway.
According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Joseph M. Czuba, had a cut on his forehead and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Inside the home, deputies found both victims inside a bedroom, the sheriff's office said. Both the boy and woman had multiple stab wounds to their chest, torsos and upper extremities.
The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died, authorities said.
The suspect was released from the hospital and taken to the Will County Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex for questioning, authorities said.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to the sheriff's office, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
