Flood Advisory Issued For Kendall, Will Counties
Poor drainage areas in parts of Kendall and Will counties could see flooding this morning, the National Weather Service reports.
PLAINFILED, IL — Heavy rain has caused the National Weather Service to issue a flood advisory warning for Kendall and Will counties. Through Monday morning, motorists and area residents could see flooded roads and basements, according to the weather service.
Early morning thunderstorms caused rain to fall at nearly two inches per hour in some areas, according to the National Weather Service. Though much of the storms have passed, the morning's rain will cause minor flooding in some parts of Will and Kendall counties.
All of Kendall County was included in the advisory, while on southwestern Will County was included. Locations that could see flooding include Romeoville, Plainfield, Oswego, Sandwich, Yorkville and others. The advisory lasts until 11 a.m. Monday.

The area's rivers do not appear to be in danger of flooding this morning. The DuPage River near Plainfield was observed at 7.3 feet at 8:45 a.m. Monday, below the 12-foot flood stage. The east branch of the DuPage River near Bolingbrook stood at 15 feet this morning, below the flood stage of 19.5 feet. The Fox River near Oswego stood at 11.5 feet at 8:30 a.m. this morning, just under the flood stage of 13 feet, according to the National Weather Service.
Officials are cautioning motorists from driving through flooded streets and underpasses, saying most flood deaths occur in cars.
