The 21-year-old was riding a motorcycle on I-80 when he reportedly lost control, crashed and was ejected from the vehicle, police said.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A GoFundMe campaign was created to raise money to help the family of the 21-year-old Plainfield man who died in a crash Sunday.
Maximo Ortega was riding his motorcycle on westbound Interstate 80, just east of Route 30 in New Lenox, when he lost control and was ejected from the bike, Illinois State Police reported. Troopers were called to the crash at about 1:30 p.m.
Ortega's family, who started the fundraiser, described the 21-year-old as someone whose energy "could light up any room."
