PLAINFIELD, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Lorrie Rodriguez who nominated daughter, Anna, a 12th grader from Plainfield.

How do you know the star local student?

Daughter

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Anna had an extra hard time in school. She was diagnosed with a learning disability that made simple things a lot harder for her. But she got tutoring and worked herself into a very productive teenager. She has been on the high honor roll since grade school. She will graduate with honors and a CNA certification this year. She will then go on to her nursing degree. We are just so proud of her.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

She has a heart of gold. Her dream is to take care of people who are sick.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Anna!
