Jack In The Box Could Be Coming To Plainfield
The California-based fast food chain is making a return to Illinois, and Plainfield might be home to one of the new restaurants.
PLAINFIELD, IL — West Coast-based fast food brand Jack In the Box is returning to Illinois, and they've got their eyes on Plainfield.
The chain announced a return to the Chicago area this week, citing plans to open in several suburbs, including Tinley Park, New Lenox, Naperville, Plainfield, Carol Stream, Lake in the Hills and Countryside, with an additional Chicago location near Midway. The openings are slated for 2025, the company said.
Plainfield Mayor John Argoudelis told Patch the company has identified the village as one of the places they’d like to open, but that’s as far as it has gone — a location has not yet been selected.

“We’re always open to all new development,” Argoudelis said.
In a statement sent to Patch, Jack in the Box representatives said it has been more than four decades since the 24/7 fast food joints have operated in Illinois. The company hopes to open 125 stores in the Chicago market.

"This strategic expansion into Chicago allows us to not only satisfy long-standing customer demand for our brand, but also to become a key member in the region’s thriving restaurant scene," CEO Darin Harris said in a statement. "We're excited to bring our unique menu where customers can order any item at any time — day or night and we’re confident Jack in the Box will quickly become a favorite local destination."
Burgers "make up the core" of its menu, the chain's website reads. Other options include tacos, chicken sandwiches, milkshakes and breakfast items.
New locations will offer dine-in, drive-thru and mobile ordering options.
The chain currently has 2,100 locations across 21 states, according to its website. In June, leaders announced its continued expansion in Florida, in addition to its first Georgia and Kentucky locations. Corporate also has plans to expand to Michigan, Arkansas, Montana and Wyoming, according to its website.
