Lockport Street Reopens To 2-Way Traffic

Traffic is once again moving on Lockport Street, but all construction is yet to be completed, officials said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Lockport Street, east of Route 59, has reopened to two-way traffic, the Plainfield Public Works Department announced Friday.

Part of the Old Town North Roadway Reconstruction Project, the road closure began east of Route 59 on July 16.

Traffic is once again moving on Lockport Street, but work is not yet complete. Crews continue to install street lights, requiring daytime work zone flaggers and isolated traffic control over the next few months, according to the Plainfield Public Works Department.

Parkway restoration is scheduled for spring 2025, and the final asphalt work is expected to take place in August 2025.
