Month-Long Plainfield PD Speed Enforcement Campaign Underway
In July, Plainfield police are stepping up enforcement in an effort to reduce speeding.
PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Police Department is partaking in a month-long enforcement campaign focusing on speeding, officials said Tuesday.
In July, police are patterning with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies to increase patrols looking for speeding and other traffic violations. Officers will intensify enforcement of posted speed limits, according to a news release.
"Speeding causes unnecessary danger on our roads," Sgt. Dino Dabezic said in a statement. "Speed greatly reduces a driver’s ability to steer safely around another vehicle, a hazardous object, or an unexpected curve. Speeding drivers put themselves, their passengers, and other motorists at tremendous risk."

The month-long campaign comes on the heels of police's Fourth of July "Click It or Ticket" effort, which lasted from June 21 to July 8. During the two-week period, police issued a total of 68 tickets, Patch reported.
