Obituary: Anna Marie Rogers (née Waite)

Anna's kindness, patience, and steady presence left a lasting impression on countless students, colleagues, and families.

Anna Marie Rogers (née Waite)

Anna Marie Rogers, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Joliet community, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet. She was 82 years old.

Born on March 9, 1943, in La Salle, Illinois, Anna was the beloved daughter of Christina (Grill) and Joseph Waite. She grew up in La Salle, attending St. Patrick’s Grade School and graduated with the Class of 1961 from LaSalle-Peru High School.

Family was the heart of Anna’s life. She is lovingly remembered by her children, William Jr., Susan, Robert, and Terrance Rogers; her grandchildren, Starrlee and Alexis; and her great-grandchildren, Dove’len and Miles. She also held close, Casie (Steve) Price, Alyssa Warren, and Lilli (Chase) Munro and their families, embracing them as her own grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Rogers; her son, Edward; her parents; and her brother, Joseph, who passed in infancy.

For many years, Anna dedicated herself to Joliet Public Schools District 86, serving as a school secretary at Washington Junior High and Lynne Thigpen Elementary School. Her kindness, patience, and steady presence left a lasting impression on countless students, colleagues, and families.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, Illinois. Cremation rites will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anna’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
