Lois Ann Winkels, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Plainfield on Saturday, November 22, 2025. She was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on October 16, 1935, the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Bankenbush
Lois was a talented seamstress, working for more than 30 years at National Cleaners in Joliet. She later continued her career serving customers at Bergners department store. Creative and skilled with her hands, she spent several years participating in local craft shows, sharing her handiwork with others.

Her faith was an important part of her life. She was a former parishioner of the Church of St. Jude and also attended Holy Family Catholic Church.
Lois is survived by her children, Larry Winkels, Randy (Torey) Winkels, and Bonnie Bernhard; numerous grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her step-sister, Marlene (the late Arleigh) Canny, and her step-brother, Albert (Lois) Winkels.
She is preceded by her husband, Roman Winkels; her parents; step-father, Albin Winkels; son, Leo Winkels; daughter, LuAnn Winkels; and her brother, John Bankenbush.
Visitation for Lois Ann Winkels will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. As it was her request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to ALC Hospice, 360 W. Butterfield Rd Suite 325, Elmhurst, IL, 60126.
