Obituary: Patricia F. “Patty”​ Kozma

Her life was a testament to the power of kindness and the lasting impact one person can have.

Patricia F. “Patty” Kozma

Patricia F. “Patty” Kozma, age 72, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born March 15, 1953, in Park Forest, Illinois, Pat was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude (née McNicholas) Farrell. She grew up in Forest Park and graduated from Trinity High School in River Forest.

Patty was a caring and loyal person whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. She spent 20 years living in Florida, where she helped care for her parents, raised her children, and worked as a real estate agent. After returning to Illinois, she embraced her outgoing personality and love for people by working for a tour company based in the Palmer House Hilton, where she was affectionately known as “Miss Pat.”

Patty was adventurous and loved nature. She enjoyed watching, feeding, and caring for birds. When she would go fishing, she always hoped to catch “Big Moe” on every outing. She was also an excellent cook and had a gift for connecting with people, bringing joy and laughter wherever she went.

She is survived by her daughters, Abigail (Christopher) Reger and Elizabeth (Travis) Ter Haar; beloved grandchildren, Miles, Gavin, and Molly Reger and Kevin Torgerson; brothers, Michael Farrell, Marty (Sharon) Farrell, and Terry (Anne) Farrell; dearest friend and cousin, Rita (Bruce) Barron; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Lane; and brothers, Jack Farrell, Kevin Farrell, and Jerry Farrell.

A Memorial Mass for Patty will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 19515 115th Ave., Mokena, IL. As it was Patty’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded.
