Old Town North Roadway Reconstruction: Village Provides Updates
A date has been set for the eastbound Lockport Street lane closures.
PLAINFIELD, IL — The Old Town project continues in Plainfield, and contractors are working this week to finish various projects and begin new ones.
In a Friday update, the Village of Plainfield said that storm sewer work is expected to be completed this week on Eastern Avenue from Route 126 to Vintage Knoll Drive. Pavement removal is set to follow.
The contractor will begin tree root pruning, tree removals and protection fencing installation, which is expected to be finished by next week.

Officials also announced the day eastbound Lockport Street lanes will close until their anticipated reopening in December. Construction, also part of the Old Town North Roadway Reconstruction project, will start July 15.
The contractor will begin work on Eastern Avenue adjacent to Indian Trail Middle School and on the south half of Lockport Street, from Route 59 to the railroad tracks.

Improvements will consist of roadway reconstruction, sidewalk replacement, accessibility upgrades for pedestrians, driveway apron replacement, drainage work and parkway restoration. Decorative streetlights will also be added to the area, village officials said.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured using Route 59, Route 30 and Renwick Road. Westbound Lockport Street lanes will remain open.
