Plainfield To Get Heavy Snow Starting Thursday Afternoon

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield is under heavy snow warning Thursday, with up to 5 inches of snow throughout the region.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the Will County area that runs from 11 a.m. Thursday until noon Friday. Forecasts are calling for light snowfall to start after 1 p.m. Thursday, and could get heavier towards the evening.

There is a slight chance of snow before 7 a.m. Friday, and then it will be cloudy, with a high near 15 degrees. Gusts as high as 30 mph possible with a 20 percent chance of precipitation.

The weather service said there could be low visibility due to the snow and blowing snow, as well as snow and ice covered roads. Conditions will be hazardous during the Thursday evening commute, with gusty winds and blowing snow causing sharply reduced visibility. The heaviest snowfall rates will be between 2 and 6 p.m. Thursday.
