Plainfield Man Detained On Domestic Battery, Strangulation Charges: Will County Court
The 34-year-old man "used his hand to obstruct [a family member's] ability to breathe" during an argument, Plainfield police said.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield man was taken into custody after police say he attempted to strangle a family member during an argument Aug. 15, according to police.
Jeffrey Walsh, 34, remains in custody, as of Tuesday, on charges of aggravated battery/strangulation and domestic battery.
Plainfield police were dispatched at about 11:15 p.m. to a residence on West George Washington Drive, where the victim told officers that Walsh "used his hand to obstruct the complainant's ability to breathe," Cmdr. Anthony Novak told Patch.

The victim had visible marks and injuries corroborating the statement, according to Novak. Plainfield paramedics were called to the residence to evaluate the victim, who declined further medical attention.
Walsh had left the house by the time police arrived, and officers located him a short time later in the vicinity of 14750 South Wallin Drive. He was placed under arrest based on the victim's statement and injuries, police said.

Walsh first appeared in court on Aug. 17, when the judge granted the Will County State's Attorney's Office's petition to deny pre-trial release. His next court date is Aug. 29 for a preliminary hearing.
