Plainfield PD 4th Of July Enforcement Campaign Results Are In

Plainfield police's "Click It or Ticket" campaign lasted for two weeks surrounding the Fourth of July holiday.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police's enforcement campaign for the Fourth of July yielded a total of 68 tickets, officials said Monday.

The "Click It or Ticket" campaign began June 21 and lasted into the early morning hours of July 8.

The following citations were issued:

  • 58 for occupant restraint
  • 2 for speeding citations
  • 8 others

Police also made three arrests for suspended or revoked licenses and three for warrants.

With the enforcement, paid for by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, officers aimed to "change the behavior of the millions of people who don't buckle up."

"Through the Independence Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts and child safety restraints save lives," police said.
