PNHS Girls Volleyball Team Earns 4th Straight Team Academic Award

Every year since 2019, the team also got an honor roll distinction from the U.S. Marine Corps and American Volleyball Coaches Association.

PLAINFIELD, IL — For the fourth consecutive year, Plainfield North High School's girl's volleyball team has been recognized by the United States Marine Corps and American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for its 2021-22 season.

The Tigers are one of 425 high school division teams that earned the prestigious honor this year, compiling a 5.11 grade point average on a 5.0 scale, according to district officials.

Also for the fourth straight year, the team also earned an honor roll distinction, which represents the top 20 percent of team GPAs in the high school division, officials said.

"I am so proud of these girls and the PNHS girls' volleyball program," PNHS Athletic Director Ron Lear said in a statement. "These girls work extremely hard in the classroom and on the court and are prime examples of what we want our student-athletes to achieve at PNHS."

The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award was initiated in 1992-93 and is given to teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.
