Storm Damage Assessment Teams To Visit Plainfield Residents This Week

PLAINFIELD, IL — Teams will be knocking on Plainfield residents' doors Wednesday and Thursday to assess the damage from storms that hit the area in mid-August.

Representatives from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency - Office of Homeland Security, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Small Business Administration and the Will County Emergency Management Agency will go door-to-door to verify reports of damage that occurred Aug. 16-19.

"The goal is to help determine what types of assistance may be available for residents," Plainfield officials said in a Facebook alert Tuesday afternoon.

One group will start in the north — in Plainfield, Crest Hill, Joliet and Romeoville — while a second team will start on the east, in Crete, University Park, Frankfort, Mokena and Lockport. All representatives will wear safety vests, have their official photo IDs and will not enter homes or businesses, village officials said.

"If you see these teams in your neighborhood, know they are working to help our community," the village wrote in the alert.
