Traffic Configuration To Change On Route 126 In Plainfield

The update to the traffic pattern is related to the 143rd Street East Extension project.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Traffic will be reconfigured on Route 126 starting Aug. 6 in Plainfield, officials said.

Traffic will be shifted to the east while the west side of Route 126 will be constructed. Copper Drive will not be accessible from Route 126, and a detour route will use Golden Lane.

Estimated to last about eight weeks, the pattern update is part of the 143rd Street East Extension project.

During the week of Aug. 4, the contractor will continue installing the retaining wall, embankment and drainage along Fletcher Lake. Crews will also complete concrete paving for the first stage of Route 126, begin removing the existing pavement and excavating on Route 126, continue traffic signal work at the intersection with 143rd Street, and continue paving work on 143rd Street west of Route 59.
