Unbuckled Drivers Will Be Focus Of Plainfield PD Holiday Enforcement

The Plainfield Police Department kicked off its holiday enforcement campaign to ensure "festive gatherings end on a jolly note."

PLAINFIELD, IL — With Thanksgiving in the rearview mirror, Plainfield police are already in the midst of another enforcement campaign, this one encompassing Christmas and New Year's.

The Plainfield Police Department kicked off its "Click It or Ticket" holiday enforcement on Dec. 13 to ensure "festive gatherings end on a jolly note." The campaign will run through Jan. 2.

"The Plainfield Police Department urges everyone to take the following simple steps and wear your seatbelt," officials wrote in a news release. "Just remember... Seat belts save lives! Even Santa wears his seatbelt... How do you think he stays put in his sleigh?"

During the previous campaign, which lasted from Nov. 22 to Dec. 2 to encompass Thanksgiving, police issued a total of 47 tickets for violations including speeding and lack of seatbelt use, Patch reported.
