The two adults have been identified as Alberto Rolon and Zoraida Bartolomei, Burne said. Their two children were also killed.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville Police are investigating the deaths of four people — a man and woman and their two children — on Sunday as a homicide, Deputy Chief Chris Burne said during a news conference on Monday.

All four were found dead with gunshot wounds in at a home in the 500 block of Concord Avenue Sunday night, according to a release from Romeoville Police. Three dogs were also found shot to death, Hromadka said.

Will County property records show the home in Romeoville's Hampton Park subdivision was just purchased in April.

Police said family members became concerned after one of the victims failed to show up for work at 6 a.m. Sunday, and did not respond to phone calls throughout the day.

Officers responding to a well-being check at 8:43 p.m. Sunday discovered the bodies.

Investigators believe the family members died between 9 p.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Sunday, police said. Police confirmed to Patch that the suspect was not one of the victims.

Despite that, police said at a news conference on Monday that they are not asking anyone to shelter in place.

Given the time that has elapsed since police believe the shooting happened, "we are not actively looking for anybody in the area," Burne said. He said authorities are not releasing any information on possible suspect leads and that due to the sensitivity of the investigation, no further details are currently being released.

The investigation is in its early stages, according to police. Anyone with information should contact the Romeoville Police Department at 815-886-7219.

Editor's note: The name of victim Alberto Rolon has been corrected after clarification from Romeoville police.
