Arctic Cold To Freeze Romeoville: Where To Find Warming Centers
Wind chills as low as 25 below zero are possible.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — Arctic cold will once again hit the Chicagoland starting Saturday morning through Monday morning, according to forecasters, with wind chills as low as 25 below zero possible.
For those who may be in need, Romeoville operates warming centers at the following locations. Since it's the weekend, some places may be closed or hours may be different so it's always best to call ahead.
- Romeoville Recreation Center, 900 W. Romeo Road. Open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
- White Oak Library - Romeoville branch, 201 W. Normantown Road. Open 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; and 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
- Romeoville Fire Station No. 3, 698 N. Birch Lane. This location is available if the Rec Center is closed. If no one answers the door, pick up the ringdown phone. If nobody answers the phone, call the Romeoville Police Department at 815-886-7219.

That National Weather Service said there is a limited to elevated excessive cold risk from Saturday morning through Monday morning.

"Bitterly cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero are possible Saturday night into Sunday morning" the weather service said.

In Romeoville, temperatures will hit a high of 6 on Saturday, with a low of -8 degrees, according to AccuWeather. On Sunday, temperatures will hit a high of 6 degrees and drop to -2. Temperatures will moderate on Monday, which has a high of 24 degrees.
