Car Burglar Pointed Airsoft Gun At Lewis Student: University
Multiple agencies, including police K9s and drones, searched the south side of campus, and no suspect was found.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — No suspect is in custody after a car burglary at Lewis University in Romeoville on Tuesday morning, according to the university.
The incident caused the university to send out a text alert to students advising them to avoid the area near Flyer Stadium on the Romeoville campus.
The university said that its police department and other local law enforcement agencies responded after a student witnessed a car burglary in progress. The suspect pointed what was later determined to be an Airsoft pistol — a toy gun which shoots plastic pellets — at the student in an effort to scare them away.

The suspect fled on foot, the university said. The Airsoft pistol was recovered by responding officers.

"It was the consensus of all agencies involved during this investigation that there was no imminent risk to members of the Lewis community," the University said.
