There was some difficulty getting Eric Mattson to actually respond and commit to a date to participate in the endorsement interview. After several attempts, the coordinator put a date on the calendar and told the Ventura Campaign to show up with or without Mattson. Eric did show up for the interview, but the Herald Editorial Board highlighted the communication problem in their article on the topic.

A few excerpts from the endorsement will be used in a Social Media campaign. One social media card reads, "Ventura's top priority is addressing climate change... We found Ventura's responses to our questions to be complete and well thought-out. She is endorsed in the Democratic primary."A second card focuses on the basic act of scheduling the endorsement interview. "When reaching out to the candidates to participate in endorsement interviews, Ventura replied promptly. Mattson was less responsive. Multiple calls, emails and social media messages were not returned and this left us wondering whether he is equally unresponsive to constituents."

Rachel Ventura was thrilled to receive the endorsement of The Daily Herald. "When we are put side-by-side in a room and the people in that room are not connected to the pay-to-play political apparatus in Springfield, I have a fair shot at earning those endorsements," said Ventura. The Ventura campaign will be using the two endorsement graphics as part of a social media campaign.

The two are squaring off in the primary on June 28 for the Democratic ticket for the Illinois Senate, District 43rd seat.
