State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, recently met with United Methodist Women at Friendship United Methodist Church in Bolingbrook to discuss policy and legislative issues important to the organization . The roundtable discussion included ten UMW members and topics ranged from gun violence prevention to bipartisan cooperation in Springfield.
“I was happy to meet with United Methodist Women to learn more about their concerns and priorities,” said Manley. “I appreciated the wide ranging questions and about how we can protect our communities from gun violence, and how we can advance policies in Springfield that will help the people of Illinois.”
United Methodist Women is an international religious organization that focuses on social justice issues related to women, children and youth. The UMW at Friendship United Methodist Church has recently been concerned with gun violence issues since the school shooting in Parkland, Fla. earlier this year, and have invited several local legislators to speak to their group.
