Romeoville High School Spartan Classic Features Bands From Across Illinois

The award-winning 125-piece Romeoville High School Marching Spartans are scheduled to perform their show, "Shattered."

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville High School Marching Spartans invite the community for an afternoon of music and marching at the eighth annual Spartan Classic, set for Oct. 4 at Spartan Stadium, 100 N. Independence Blvd.

According to a news release from the Band Boosters, the stadium opens at noon, with the first band set to perform at 1 p.m. The show is open to the community.

Nine bands from throughout Illinois will be competing in three classes based on their size. Competing bands include: Bloom Township, Lakes Community, Marengo Community, Rantoul Township, Harold L. Richards, Joliet West, Wheaton North, Plainfield East and Illinois Valley Central high schools.

In addition to the competing bands, Metea Valley High School, Aurora, and the Cornerstone Drumline, Joliet, will be showcasing their 2025 shows, according to a release.

Each of the schools has been practicing for months on their music, marching and choreography. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each class as well as caption awards for outstanding percussion, color guard, visual effects and music. A Grand Champion will be awarded based on the highest overall total, regardless of class size.

The award-winning 125-piece Romeoville High School Marching Spartans are scheduled to perform their show, “Shattered,” at 3:30 p.m.

The band is led by longtime conductor Clark Anderson and percussion director Adam Hill.

Entrance to the Spartan Classic is $15 for adults; $10 for students and seniors, and $40 for a group of two adults and two students or seniors. Children 5 and younger are free.

Proceeds support the Romeoville High School Marching Band program.

In 2025, the Boosters said the band earned first place finishes at the Stagg Marching Jamboree in Palos Hills and the Red and Black Fall Classic in DeKalb and won best percussion at the Victor J. Andrew Marching Invitational in Tinley Park. The Marching Spartans’ season runs through Oct. 25.
