Romeoville House Uninhabitable After Extensive Fire: Lockport FD
Though the cause of the Thursday night house fire remains under investigation, officials said it appears to be accidental.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A two-story house in Romeoville was deemed uninhabitable after an extensive fire broke out Thursday night, officials said.
The Lockport Township Fire Protection District, with help from Romeoville firefighters, responded at 8:12 p.m. to the fire in the 100 block of Coreopsis Court, near Wespark Parkway and Heather Court. Crews found heavy fire showing from a second-floor window in a single-family house. The blaze extended into the attic space, according to a news report.
Firefighters brought the flames under control in about 10 minutes using a deck gun and multiple handlines, officials said. Crews remained on the scene for about an hour to perform an overhaul and ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The Red Cross responded to assist the family with any needs.

Crews from Bolingbrook, Joliet, Homer Glen, Romeoville, Plainfield and Troy fire departments assisted with mutual aid.
