Senior Citizens Invited To Celebrate, Network And Share At Free October Fair

An October senior celebration and resource fair in Romeoville will include workshops, free health screenings, an awards ceremony, and more.

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, is inviting local seniors to a Senior Celebration resource fair, which will take place on Friday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Romeoville Recreation Center, located at 900 W. Romeo Rd. in Romeoville.

“My predecessor, former state Rep. Emily McAsey, hosted this annual event to provide access to important resources for members of our senior community,” Connor said. “When I took office, I knew this was a community tradition that I wanted to continue.”

Connor’s Senior Celebration will feature representatives from various state and local organizations involved in senior services. Attendees will learn about consumer protection tips, be able to participate in free health screenings and more. Free refreshments and entertainment will also be provided. The day will also include an awards ceremony honoring older adults who have made significant contributions to improve our community.

“I look forward to meeting with residents at this event and hearing about their thoughts and concerns about what is going on in Springfield,” Connor said. “I have made an effort to prioritize issues that affect seniors, and this event is an opportunity to further engage our community.”
