ROMEOVILLE, IL — Valley View School District has increased its count of Advanced Placement Scholars by more than half, the district announced Wednesday. A total of 292 high school students in the district earned Advanced Placement, or AP, Scholar status last school year, an increase of 53 percent over the previous year.

Students earn AP Scholar designation by scoring at least a 3.0 out of a possible 5 on three or more AP exams. AP classes are meant to help students prepare for college, or even receive college credit for the courses.

In addition, 47 Valley View high school students earned designation as AP Scholar with Distinction, scoring a 3.5 out of 5 on all AP exams taken, the district said. That's a 34 percent increase over the 35 students receiving that designation in 2017-2018.
