Valley View School Board Introduces Its 2 New Members

Both were sworn in to serve 4-year terms back in April.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Victoria Pipkin and Jennifer Shroba are the newest members of the Valley View School District Board of Education, after winning the April 1 consolidated election, the District shared in a news release. Both were sworn in to serve 4-year terms at the April 28 Board meeting.

“My experiences as both a student and a parent nurtured my deep, personal commitment to strong public education,” Board Member Pipkin said in a release. “I am dedicated to advocating for students and families, promoting academic excellence, empowering teachers, and ensuring Every Student—regardless of background—has access to a safe, equitable, and high-quality education.”

Pipkin and her husband, Greg, are longtime Bolingbrook residents and parents of twins who have attended VVSD schools in both Bolingbrook and Romeoville from kindergarten through high school—now students at Bolingbrook High School and the Illinois Math & Science Academy.

Pipkin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Spelman College and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law. She is a family law attorney and former Chief Financial Officer, the District said.

Pipkin is also an active district volunteer, having served on the Brooks Middle School Advisory Council and currently supports the Bolingbrook High School Music Boosters. Her community involvement includes work with the Alliance for Civic Engagement and Jubilee Baptist Church in Bolingbrook, where she volunteers in ministries, teaches children’s church, and directs the Children’s Choir, according to a release.

“I believe deeply in the benefits the educational system VVSD provides to both our students and our community,” Board Member Shroba said in a release. “VVSD offers so much, but we can always do more for our students.”

Shroba and her husband, Dave, have been residents of Bolingbrook since 2003. All four of their children are Bolingbrook HS graduates, and Shroba is also the proud grandmother of two grandchildren. Shroba served for 15 years as the Enrollment and Development Director for St. Dominic School in Bolingbrook.

In addition to watching her grandchildren during the day, Shroba is also a certified volleyball official who officiates games for the Illinois High School Association and for club volleyball in the area, the District said.

Shroba has a long record of community commitment including being a Girl Scouts leader for 15 years, and coaching volleyball, softball, basketball, and soccer for the Panther Sports Club and for the Bolingbrook Park District.

“We welcome both Victoria and Jennifer to the VVSD Board of Education, and we thank them for the time, commitment, and passion that it takes to go through the process of placing your name on the ballot and being selected to represent the community,” said VVSD Board of Education President Steve Quigley. “We look forward to working together as a Board to meet the educational needs of the children of VVSD while also exercising fiscal responsibility.”
