
Niles Township High School District 219 sent five students to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, held in Phoenix, AZ, and one, Hayley Sproull, earned a third place prize in Environmental Management.
The Intel ISEF bills itself as the "premier global science competition for students in grades 9-12." It features 1,600 students from more than 70 countries, and showcases their talents on an international stage for scholarships and prizes.
Sproull’s research was titled “Remediating Radioactive Contamination: Investigating the Effects of Chelating Agents and Growth-Promoting Bacteria on Strontium Phytoremediation in Lycopersicon esculentum. “
Also attending the competition were Lindsay Pietz, Niles North; Moshe Rubin, Niles North; Patrick Liscio, Niles West and Felicia Phan, Niles West.
