Featured Obituary:

Ruth Foreman was born on December 11, 1939 in Kingston, Jamaica. She was the oldest of six children to Leopold Francis and Minna Lovelace.

Ruth met the love of her life Vincent Foreman in 1954; shortly after that they were married. Ruth migrated to the USA on December 17, 1967 and worked for the Skully family for 2 years. She was the Housekeeper and Dinner Technician.

On February 12, 1969, Vincent and three of their 5 children arrived and they settled in the 900 block of Sherman Ave, in Evanston. They all resided at 936 Sherman Avenue for 51 years. She expanded her horizons by attending nursing school in 1969 to become a nurse’s assistant. Ruth worked at Highland Park Hospital for five years as a nurse's aide and at St. Francis Hospital as a Patient Care Technician until her retirement in 2008. She enjoyed traveling to Vegas and spending time with a special group of her co-workers and cooking special meals for them. Ruth was an avid gardener, master cook, cake maker and decorator. Most of all she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

If you know Ruth, you knew you could find her working in her garden or cooking. She enjoyed going to the farmers market to see what plants she could bring home with her. Ruth also enjoyed being a caregiver to others that needed help with their loved ones or pets. She had a heart of gold. Over the years she took the time to help her husband, brothers and sisters migrate to the United States. She gave them a place to stay until they were able to get on their feet and help them get their children here. She wanted everyone to have an opportunity to have a better life and that she did. No matter who you are, you had a place to stay as long as it was needed 936 Sherman was your home. All you had to do was ask and she said yes she never turned anyone away.
