4 Injured, Including Firefighter, During Apartment Fire Monday
Chicago Fire Department officials said residents of 15 units were displaced due to fire, smoke or water damage.

CHICAGO — Three residents and one firefighter were taken to a local hospital after a Monday night fire broke out in a South Shore apartment building, officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of a four-story building in the 6900 block of South Clyde Avenue at around 7 p.m., a spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department told Patch.
The fire began at the back of the building and spread down a stairwell. Three people were treated for minor smoke inhalation and the firefighter was treated for a minor injury after falling on collapsing stairs.

All were listed in stable condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire by 8 p.m., but residents of about 15 units were displaced due to smoke and water damage. Four of those units were directly damaged by the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting people in finding temporary shelter, a spokesperson said.
