Teacher Reported Missing In Bronzeville, May Be In Need Of Medical Attention: Police

CHICAGO — A school teacher went missing Saturday from her Bronzeville neighborhood. Linda Brown, 53, was last seen near the 4500 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, Chicago police said.

Brown may be driving a blue Honda Civic with IL plate cX57470. Police said she may in the area of the 2200 block of West North Avenue. She was reportedly on her way to an acupuncture appointmen on the North Side.

Police described Brown as white with a fair complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. She stands 5 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds. She may be in need of medical attention.

Brown is a special education teacher at Robert Healy Elementary School in Bridgeport. The principal informed the school community of the missing teacher, shared on ABC-7 Chicago.

“I am writing to address a situation involving our school. One of our teachers, Ms. Linda Brown, has been missing since Saturday, January 3. The Chicago Police Department and the CPS Office of Safety and Security are aware of this matter ….”

The principal said counseling for students and staff would be available through the CPS Crisis Management Team, as well as school-based professionals. The principal's statement continued:

“I know that news like this can cause many emotions, questions, and concerns for our school community. If you feel that your child would benefit from additional social-emotional support, please do not hesitate to let us know.”
