New Information, Surveillance Photo Of Missing CPS Teacher Released

CHICAGO, IL — Police have released a surveillance image of missing Chicago Public Schools special education teacher Linda Brown.

According to police, Brown was last seen in the area of 3500 South Lake Park Avenue wearing a black winter hat, black coat, black pants, and black rubber snow boots. She was seen walking alone, eastbound from that location, and may need immediate medical attention, police said.

Previously, police said the 53-year-old was last seen leaving her Bronzeville home in the 4500 block of South Martin Luther King Drive on Saturday, reportedly headed to an acupuncture appointment in Wicker Park. She never showed up to the appointment.

A search was held Friday morning for Brown, who teaches special education at Healy Elementary School, with searchers canvassing the lakefront as well as grassy areas and the shoreline, Fox Chicago reported.

Her husband, Antwon Brown, has told reporters that his wife had already left their home by the time he woke up on Jan. 3, taking her her purse, credit cards and car keys with her. She had reportedly been on medical leave for mental health issues, and was scheduled to return to work next week.

On Wednesday, her husband said her car, a blue 2011 Honda Civic, had been found. On Thursday, Brown's family said the car was found near 35th Street and Lake Park Avenue, according to Fox.

Surveillance video reportedly showed Brown parking her car around 3 a.m. Saturday and walking across the 35th Street pedestrian bridge, but not returning, her family told news outlets.

Brown is described as 5-foot-7 and 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
