Off-Duty Forest Preserve Cop Attacked In Hyde Park: Authorities

The officer, 33, was outside in the 5100 block of South Kimbark Avenue Tuesday morning when police said he was attacked and injured.

SOUTH SIDE, IL — An off-duty Cook County Forest Preserve police officer was attacked early Tuesday morning in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The 33-year-old officer was outside at around 3 a.m. in the 5100 block of South Kimbark Avenue when a man in a black SUV approached and attacked him, police said in a press release. After a brief struggle, authorities said the attacker fled the scene.

The officer suffered minor injuries and refused treatment. Police said no one is in custody at the time.
